Article on the Beeb about Curbishley turning down Norwich.

His agent said he doesn't want to return to club management in England to a team outside of the Premiership.

:( :( :(

Do you reckon we could lie to him once we get rid of Bruce and make him beleive we are a Premiership club
He'd only have to look at the ticket prices to be convinced.

West Ham aren't outside the Premiership, and that's where he'll probably end up.

I hope he would consider coming to us :P He's just about one of the only decent managers around at the moment.

Curbishly to west ham, pardew to blues. At least we'd get the fast attacking football we all want.
I'd have him over Bruce

I cannot imagine for one minute that should no decent Premiership jobs become available by November, that Curbs would just sit around while there might be very good job opportunites open to him in the Championship......

I think if Curbs was offered a long contract, promised good financial backing, a club with a good fan base and a young squad full of good talent i'm sure that would wet his appetite.....

His agents comments seem strange considering 3 weeks ago, Curbs said himself on National radio that he ideally wants a top Premiership job, but would consider a club with great potential in the Championship......

I still think if Curbs heads into the Premiership its more likely to be with Newcastle or Middlesborough than, the likes of Fulham or West Ham.....

I think Man City could be a good shout. If Pearce doesn't get his act together then i can see him getting the boot. Man City have everything in place however they are short of funds.

I see no others at the moment. I think if we were to sack SB we would be in the driving seat. I am currently reading AC book which is an excellent read by the way.

Quote from page 70

Birmingham were keen to have me as their new manager. Terry Cooper had resigned and it seemed they wanted me as his replacment. They were in the same division as us, but having played for them i knew just what a big club they were and the potential they had.

He goes on to say DS & DG live near him in essex and that in the end he thought it was best to stay at Charlton.

I wouldn't totally rule out going back to Charlton. Stranger things have happened (Harry Redknap back to Pompey for starters!)

Willie youv'e got it all wrong mate. When Curbishley says he wants a premiership club he actually means a championship club. Come on I thought you would have read through that. **thumbup

From the BBC also, not through his agent though:

Quote:

He had decided on a break after 15 years in charge at Charlton while also missing out on to Steve McClaren in the race to become England manager.

Curbishley recently stated he was again in the market to step back into football management in October and that he would not rule out a move to a Championship club.

But it appears he does not feel West Brom is the right job with a top-flight job the priority, unless the club and opportunity is too tempting to turn down.

I'm not mad about him, but I prefer to keep an open mind and not seek vindication for an opinion, until the fat lady has sung. :D

OK....let's just say it appears Curbishley is waiting for a PL club...remember it was his agent saying this, not the man himself

The media can feed you anything these days........I recall Joey Barton saying he wouldn't play for Man City again......a few weeks later he signs a 4 year deal........Alan Pardew said he was going to quit West Ham due to the takeover saga (it was in ALL the papers) .........the very next day Alan Pardew denies everything that was written .........Arsenal said they will NEVER sell Ashley Cole to Chelsea...a few weeks later Cole moves to Stamford Bridge..........and that Neville chappie from Solihull said he would fight the Randy Lerner takeover at Vile Park...the very next day he changes his mind........and let's not forget one Robbie Savage who signed a 4 year deal with us and then a few months later slapped in a transfer request because Blackburn was 3 miles FURTHER away from Wrexham than St Andrews was

You read yer papers and web pages and make yer choice

I personally won't give up on AC just yet..........and I'm still convinced a PL job won't be available till the New Year at the earliest

I think you are right, dont give up on AC just yet I've a funny feeling that we have already asked him just in case, but that dosnt mean I want brucey out. Could it work having both brucey and curbs?

Yea,Pardew would be a good shout but like I have said before,as long as we are in the top 4,Bruce is safe.It is up to him to sort out the playing side.
What would the reaction be if we went on a 25 game unbeaten run now with at least 20 wins in that.

Curbishley will end up at either West Ham, Newcastle or Boro before xmas as I'd put money on one of them sacking their manager in the next couple of months.

I've spoken to many Hammers fans and it seems they are ALL behind Pardew....the signings of these two Argentinian lads (as good as they may be) has actually UNSETTLED the balance of their team that did so well last term

And the Argentina national coach has stuck his nose in by advising the 2 players that they should quit West Ham and look for a BIGGER club .......it gets funnier doesn't it ?
